===== Date and country of first publication===== 2004<br> Switzerland ===== Definition ===== Political segregation is the phenomenon where people with similar political beliefs or affiliations tend to live in separate social or geographical communities, leading to a division and separation of political ideologies. This can create echo chambers where individuals are predominantly exposed to ideas and opinions that reinforce their own views, limiting their exposure to different perspectives and ideas. Political segregation can contribute to political polarization and hinder constructive dialogue and compromise between different ideological groups. It is important to foster an environment where individuals with diverse political beliefs can engage in respectful and open discussions to promote understanding and find common ground. ==See also== ==Related segregation forms== Political segregation is frequently discussed in the literature with the following segregation forms: social segregation, residential segregation, spatial segregation, territorial segregation, urban segregation This visualization is based on the study The Multidisciplinary Landscape of Segregation Research.
